Jaguar 1999 XJR blue smoke

Hi folks i have a jaguar 1999 xjr and having done some recent mantainance i am having problems.
To start with the car ran fine up until developing a misfire on cylinders 7&8, checking the plugs and fault codes it would appear the cam cover gaskets were leaking causing the problem.
I started by replacing all cam cover gaskets and a faulty secondary tensioner (metal) as it had failled .
I then fitted all new plugs ,a K&N panel filter new oil & filter to put my mind at rest as i am unsure of the service history of the car.
Finally i used 10/40 oil as the car has covered 118000 miles.
upon taking the car on a short journey i put my foot to the floor noticing an increase in performance but a trail of blue smoke![Icon Confused](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif)
The car was still cold at the time but showing no signs of smoke during normall driving ,or when arriving back home so i could get my partner to rev its nuts off while i examine the exhaust .Yet again no smoke but by this time the car had reached temp.
Is this a common thing for a jag of nearlly 120k miles or is something nacked ,any help would be more than welcome ...hope to hear from somebody soon

Is it on it's original engine, i.e. Nikasil?
If so the tolerances are tighter than a liner engine, with a heavier oil and the time it takes for the engine to warm up there's a chance it burnt off on warmup. A way to test is on cold start - letting it idle until it's warmed up then repeating what you did. If it blows oil then there's more to it, if not all OK.
Where is the oil level on the dip stick? Might have a slight over fill...
Also, any oil in the intake tube? Have you done a set of compressions (cold engine)?
Also, did I read you've only done one tensioner?

Hi sean thanks for your reply.
I did find a little oil in the intake tube when stripping down but not covered in it. Also taken it out today and let it reach temp and couldnt notice any smoke through the mirror. The oil level is on max as ive just changed it allong with the filter.
Regarding the tensioner the dealer i bought the car from assured me it had the chains renewed at 100k,true to his word they were all metal tensioners primar&secondary (left bank had failled as the chain was slack.
I replaced the part while she was in peices .
Also when i purchased the car it had a restricted performance light on but was booked in at a jaguar specialist in stockport manchester at the deallers expense.
When collecting the car from the garage i asked what engine she had was it the good or bad ? he replied it is the later engine so no need to worry.
The car ran fine for about 1500k until developing the misfire .
How can i tell if it is the nikasil or iron, ive read many a thread about vin numbers but seem misleading .
The car starts fine from cold now ive replaced the plugs and the poorly coil.I must admit i was going up quite a steep road when i noticed the smoke.

It could have been the K&N filter re-oiled. Blue smoke is normal with a re-oil is done.
But, here is a link I found, for all to read.
