Jaguar Seat Bracket
#3
Do you happen to still have extra parts for your driver seat? My driver seat has a severed support on the right rear. It is the part that holds the seat up.
Thanks,
Bill

Okay, just got a new (used) track and motor set for the driver seat. I need to swap out the old one for the new one or just replace one of the brackets. The top portion of the bracket looks like it's been bolted on somehow...not a nut and bolt thing. Does anyone have any clues as to how to remove the seat from the track. I think I'll try to replace the entire track instead of taking out parts from the old track. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Allison,
How did you resolve the seat issue? I was able to replace mine but just have a nut and bolt connected to the two brackets. Only problem now is my seat won't tilt all the back because the nut and bolt can't get past the seat housing
Thanks,
Bill

Installing seat bracket
Hi Bill- Took some trial and error, but I used a threaded rivet nut like below.
http://www.rivetsinstock.com/rivet47.htm
I called a rivet company and told them I only needed one (they usually sell by the 100's!). They were kind enough to send me a couple for free. I can't remember where I got it, but just google rivet nut and you can find more companies than you need. Just make sure that you measure the diameter of the bracket/seat holes and the length of rivet you need. I couldn't find a rivet nut short enough, but was able to easily cut it off with a hack saw. Just make sure you cut it with a screw in it so you won't warp the rivet.
If the flange is not large enough to prevent the rivet from sliding through the bracket hole, just slip a washer over it. Using a rivet nut allowed the seat to tilt freely without loosening the bracket connection.
I have to say, this was one of the most frustrating things to fix so far on my jag. However, the rivet nut does work well if you have the patience (and another car to drive in the meantime). It was a lot cheaper for me to fix than paying the $1200 quoted by a jag repairmen!!

Good luck!
