Default Jaguar XJR performance chip???

Hello everyone!!! I am buying a 2002 Jaguar XJR this weekend, and I have been looking around for a performance chip. Does anyone know of where I can get one?

take delivery first...this is a frighteningly fast car already....your money is well better spent in other areas.

Arden supplies a new CPU, and its like 4 grand. I would rather spend a couple hundred than a few thousand, lol.

I have driven the car a few times, and yes, its pretty darn quick. Still no match for my fathers 2002 Audi Allroad.

Try it again with the sport button on. It really shouldn't feel slower than a non-RS Audi wagon.

I did. The audi allroad is a twin turbo 3.2 L V6. with a 6 speed manual trasmission And he has chipped it. It will blow the jag away. It will even give the NEW XJR a challange

If it's chipped then forget what I just said... I was assuming stock to stock. If you get a chance, line them up at some legal drag strip somewhere and see how they stack up.

Stock to stock, yah, it would be a fair challange. I would LOVE to take them to the track. More likely the highway. I cannot wait to get her!!!

Uh, check your numbers on that. 250 HP (V6 biturbo allroad) vs. 370 HP (XJR), similar curb weights (~4000 pounds), and the fact that you can't launch as hard with AWD unless you want to break the transmission mean stock to stock the XJR would whoop it. Actually, after looking at some 0-60 numbers for the allroad (6.8 sec for the V6 biturbo manual version, versus 5.2 or less for the XJR), I doubt that a chip alone would take it within the same performance bracket. The Jag definitely feels smooth when it accelerates, more so than something with turbos and a manual would, so it doesn't feel as fast, at least until you look at the speedo and the traffic going backwards around you. Anyway, good luck with the XJR.

Yeah a Audi Allroad beating an XJR??..WTF?!....The Audi Allroad with a professional driver shifting the manual with give a XJ8 a challenge stock for stock, but not a XJR unless the Audi has a chip that makes the engine as powerful as the XJR but that will blow the Audi's ZF transmission out

Turbo's have an interesting "feel" to them as they bring on power. This is especially true when a turbo motor is connected to a manual transmission, which makes the power delivery even more direct than an automatic.

My friend once had a Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4. Riding in that car, it feels MUCH more powerful and quicker than my 04 XJR. If I didn't know any better, I would think that the 3000GT would easily win a drag race...the funny thing is, this is exactly what he thought.

So we lined up at around 45mph one night on a completely deserted road...3 honks and we were off. I shut it down after reaching about 120mph. The 3000GT? Well, it was more or less a speck in my rearview mirror by then. After I pulled, what we agreed on, was about 10+ car lengths, he gave up.

Here is another funny story. Another one of my friends has a 2005 Pontiac GTO with a 6.0L LS2 motor. The car is basically stock minus a straight piped exhaust. He was convinced he could easily beat me...unfortunately, I pretty much decided that this was the truth. So we lined up at 45mph and he honked three times and we both got on it. From 45 all the way up to around 130mph or so, we were in a dead heat. Nobody pulled, or lost, any ground. I was extremely surprised at this outcome...considering his car was able to run a 12.9 @ 111 at the strip while I've only managed recent personal best of 13.696 @ 104.11. I guess our cars were just not meant to launch...

Even though our cars (both the XJ8's and XJR's) don't feel fast, they will meet or beat many "performance" or "sports" cars out there.

Allroad is a 2.7L, and the 2.7s are plenty quick Chipped, I used to have a stage 4 K16 hybrid S4 sedan with that motor and it was running 378 AWHP. Chipped 2.7's will work most anything on the road especially with the 6 speed attached to them. I love my XJR but in its stock form cannot keep up with my brothers S4 Sedan thats chipped with full turbo back exhaust.

Idk, you might be right, but from the seat of the pants feel, the audi kills. and from a start, the way he drives, the audi would beat it off the line. No blown transmissions yet. Ill have to ask if he has more done than just the chip, because it really launches. But def. it will be fun to test that out

His is a 3.2, not a 2.7, twin turbo. Just a chip, but a chip on a turbo car does ALOT more than a supercharged car, plus, his was not a typical chip, it was several hundred dollars, and he had to give the car to the company for a day for them to install it. They would not let him do it, they had to do it. It changes ALOT. there are 3 settings on the chip, economy, sport, and race. The turbo's produce more boost, the timing is more advanced, fuel to air ratio changed, etc. We will race sometime, and I will be sure to let you know the victor. Should be fun

About the only thing I have read about that measurably affects the X*R is a new exhaust system.

When you race, be sure that not only the Sport Mode is on, but that the Traction Control is off. Mine stalls out horribly when I forget to turn that off. It's quite embarrassing when I want to impress someone and it acts like it's got sugar in the tank... Also, a BIG difference in acceleration all the way through.

I've only raced three cars to date in almost 1 1/2 years.

Mercedes SL500 - I walked away from this car
2009 Mustang GT - I ran away from this car
2009 Mustang Mach - Stock??? - I couldn't budge away from this car, we were even

Euroteck Designs in FL will do it for $1000. You"ll have to send your ECU to them and wait for it to be sent back. I would expect to plan on having your car sit for 5 days or so.
