jolts after a gearbox oil change

Hi,
Despite the alarming thread title, the car is running mostly ok after I finally changed the gearbox oil.
Took me a couple days as I first had to fight with the filler cap, way too tight and with the head almost a perfect circle, then with several of the oil span screws which I had to drill and extract.
I don't know who did the last oil change, but I hate him.
Odd thing was the oil being red (red-blackish actually, was about time to change it), while the new oil was the Esso LT 71141, which has a honey tint. I'm guessing the specs were similar anyway, and I'm really hoping that I didn't fill it with a wrong oil type.
So, filling procedure went rather well with no more than half a liter spilled on the driveway, and a minor burn on the forearm when touching the exhaust pipe while trying to quickly put the filler cap back on. Because, you know, the oil was overflowing.
The gears are passing very smoothly now, almost can't feel anything else than the engine speed changing. However, I put it in sport mode and floored it, and noticed a pretty strong jolt or hiccup on the 4th and 5th gears. I'm wondering if that may be the result of a poor job, maybe a wrong oil level ?
The actual question is : is that a known symptom of a poorly performed oil change ? If not, what are the symptoms, so that I pay attention ?
