JTIS question - where's the engine info?
2000 XJ8, 1st post - Great forum with lots of great information and member's expertise!
So, I've successfully downloaded JTIS and have been through it pretty thoroughly. My question is, is there anything related to the engine internals? It has tons of info on the chassis, suspension, electrics, body etc., but I see nothing about the engine any deeper than the fuel, intake, accessory belt, etc.
Am I missing something? I was hoping it would have full engine disassembly with details on things such as the cam chain tensioners, and more... I hope I just missed some files, but so far, don't see anything related to the meat and potatoes part of the engine.
Can anybody help, or is this just how it is?
Thanks
QM

The engine, like the transmission were never intended to be worked on at the dealer level. They were replaced as a complete unit when required. For that reason, I do not believe that JTIS has any info, hidden or otherwise, on the internals and I have explored it pretty thoroughly.
If anyone has any information to the contrary I would like to know.

Quadmechanic, the files are hidden inside the JTIS. Normally, to find them, you have to go about it in a back handed sort of way. Normally, you need to find a large component in the area that you are after, then when you start going after that part, it will link you over to another area of the JTIS which will then have disassembly instructions for that component. From there it is just a matter of finding the bits of information that you are after. I agree, the JTIS could be better laid out, but for the price, can you really complain.
