Default Just shut off in drive way

Back ground, Installed re manufactured transmission and torque converter plus added new cooler, drove car for about a week. Ran and shifted very good and started quickly. Now went out and it started right up idled for about three minutes then shut down, would not restart although cranked it several times.
plugged in code reader and got a P1000 code then on dash flashed traction and stability code. Was there something that I did or not do with the trans installation or is it something else. the traction code was there when I took it of the jack stands but went away later. When cranking it is like no fuel or fire because it does nothing.Note, updated timing chain tensioners installed.
Thanks

I do not think a traction issue will prevent the car from starting. May be time to start the fuel/spark/compression diagnosis. Without a code I would start with fuel.

Check the MAF sensor for dirt/soot and clean it if necessary. Also check the air ducting for any small cracks that may be present. TB electrical connectors should be checked for tightness and cleanliness, use dielectric grease on them like I did. Your symptom is usually something really simple as I have found out after weeks of tearing my hair out.

I agree - check for fuel pressure - the code and error messages were likely due to a marginally compatible OBD reader causing CAN bus problems.

Sorry, just pulled one up that I had already copied from JTIS without thinking of yours being an XJ.

Found the relay second from left in the trunk fuse box.Changed it out with another and still no voltage at fuel pump fuse with key in the on position.Any other ideas I am open for any. Also checked the auto crash switch right side under dash and was OK. Really could use a few more ideas right now. Thanks

Talking

Check the ground strap. I had to solder mine - the crimped ends lose contact with the braided part. Low voltage will set off weird dash lights. It may sound ridiculous, but it happened to me.

I show both the relay and fuse for the fuel pump is located in the trunk. You say no power to the fuel pump relay and that command comes from the engine control module. Now I heard several times that the wiring harness from the relay to the pump has a tendency to burn up. Not knowing how or why I would be checking back to the control module. Attached is a wiring diagram if you need it, I hope it helps! I have not done this but I have a buddy that has and if I can meet up with him I will ask and let you know.

Pull the relay. There is a small schematic printed on the side. Look at the pump side socket for a ground of only a few ohms (10 or less I'm guessing). No ground, pump or in-tank wiring harness bad.

Assuming that you swapped a good relay into the fuel pump socket, verify that there is 12.6V on the supply side socket. Then verify that 12.6V is fed to the winding supply socket when the key is switched on. Might as well verify that there is a ground on the winding ground socket. That will, at least, tell you which side of the relay the problem resides. Remember that there is only a couple seconds of winding power supplied when you turn the key on. Need to call on an able assistant as key turner.

Oh, and the relay provides power to the fuse (#7), not the other way around.

Well you have answered one question that is that the fuse is down stream from relay. Is the key power to relay only on for a few seconds, if so I might be taking bad readings, will get a key turner tomorrow. Will check all items that were mentioned in posts. Thanks loads and will be back again tomorrow to start again. Sure glad can drive boys car for few days.

Default Up and running (dumb thing)

Was reading all your helpful posts and was going to check and see if I had fuel pressure before I did anything else,so I stole the bicycle pump hose from the kids and affixed it to the fuel rail on the front drivers side. When I turned the engine over I got nothing but water out of the hose, went back and open the gas lid and it was full of water. the drain was plugged and the over flow was going into my tank, so when I started the engine it only ran for a few minutes then stopped. I pumped about two quarts of water out of the tank then started right up also added a little dry gas to the tank. Took it out for a test run about a hour and run fine.Needless to say it will not happen again now that I know. I think that if I would have told you all in my post that we had a hard rain the night before, one of you would have had the answer. Thanks to all of you for helping me through this problem.

Hadn't heard that one before. Thanks for coming back and letting us know. Your rain made all the news outlets today. Wow, over 20 inches.

My 95 xj6 the drain would clog and fill the area with water and twice I had to drain that area before filling the tank with gas. I guess I was lucky it did not drain into the tank.
