I was wondering seems Jag went with lighter aluminum parts on the 03 pr 04 XJ series and was trying to find out what parts an would any be direct replacements on the 98 to 02 XJ seeing as they didnt change a whole lot over the years. Doing this would lower the weight of the older cars thereby increasing performance and fuel economy. Anyone ever thought of this an what came of it??

Wheelbase grew by 6 1/2", and the front end got way uglier, I'd guess not much transfers.

unfortunately it's not an evolution from x300-x308. A completely new concept. Engine as in the 4.2 can be used with work, but all else inc axles suspension (air), brakes, chassis, trans, electrical systems, fuel system etc etc are totally different.

But, a nice little stat (and surprising) is the fact that it's about 40kg heavier than a DB9 Aston Martin, that produces 420bhp, now if some subtle tuning mods are acheived the old X308 can give that particular car a very good run for it's money. Another reason to love it.

like others have said nothing transfers except for some engine related materials.

although unrelated except for Jaguar-Aston Martin discussion, I have always liked how the early 2000s V12 Vanquish has a X308 radio

If anything X350 has components in common with X202 (S type mk 2).

The early prototypes were flared out S types in fact. The looked sexy!
