L.E.D total bulb conversion XJ V8

L.E.D total bulb conversion XJ V8
Has anyone experience of doing both interior and exterior on these cars, I'm thinking of changing every one I can. Does the BCM flag bulb failure if fitted, i.e. will they require resistors to function correctly?
I've got the dash out, and there's a wedge twistlock series of lights in the heater switchpack that are bigger than type A, and smaller than type B, odd size.
Any choice of colour/brightness on the interior bulbs?
The car is a 2001 MY (UK) 2002 MY (USA).
Cheers

IIRC, interior bulbs are not monitored for voltage on the return, so swap away on those.
Exterior, all turns, brake, tail lamps are monitored. Backup/Reverse and Fogs are not.
I did a LED replacement project, you can find it in the Exterior section if you want to read about all of my trials and successes. (and a few failures)

I've just ordered a complete kit of l.e.d's for the interior of the XJR.
The number on the far left is for pairs, so 2 ea. means 4 lights, so its double that number.
2 ea. T10 W5W Dome Style (White) – Pair doors
5 ea. T10 W5W Inverted Style (White) – Pair rear and map and boot
2 ea. T10 6-Chip SMD Style (White) – Pair speedo
1 ea. 36mm 2-LED SMD (White) - Pair rear number plate
2 ea. 10mm/T4 Neo Wedge (Blue) – Pair heater screen dip and trip
2 ea. 8mm/T3 Neo Wedge (White) – Pair map and console
6 ea. 8mm/T3 Neo Wedge (Blue) – Pair console
1 ea. 8mm/T3 Neo Wedge (Green) – Pair console
2 ea. B8.7D Twist Lock 1-LED (White) – Pair speedo
Hope this helps - I'll be uploading pictures once installed, but it wont be any time soon!

Not yet, but Jaguar use a bulb type that sits in size between type a and type b wedgey, you have to take a bit off the sides to make it fit in the slots on the centre console upper light rail.
Will comment with pictures and results when done, but it will be a while, I've to install all electronic systems first - total rebuild into a new shell.

Hi,
I received the LEDs following Sean Bs list above from http://www.bl-led.com.au.
So far I mounted the speedo once.
If I understood it correctly the T10 6-Chip SMD Style (White) and B8.7D Twist Lock 1-LED (White) were supposed to go in there.
Here is some feetback.
1) the smaller LEDs do not hold there very firmly, so far the work, but will see ...
2) the result is that the whole speedo is now blue (was green before) although the LEDs were supposed to be white.
3) (the only thing I find as real problem) not sure if it is the big or the small ones, but some are producing too pointing light. there are significant differences in the brightness of different areas of the speedo. For instance the 40 km/h and 260 km/h mark is very bright.

It could be a change back to original spec bulbs. The 6smd leds would be of use in the headlamps, as parking lights.

Bumping this thread for bulb info. I'm also looking for the "error free" type to avoid having to add resistors(I don't want the lingering glow from residual charge).
Just going to do the map, doors & rear reading/whites, then wait to tackle the difficult climate & cruise control bulbs.

The interior lights aren't on the can-bus, the exterior lights are.
The plug and play led's available now are already fitted with resistors, but they're for a 12V rail, all the interior backlighting is 5V if I remember, it's been a while
I found most of the twistlock led's worked fine when fitted but after a while they flickered or stopped working. This called for soldering and no lighting issues since. You'll see why I soldered them when you get a look at the skinny little wires the led bulbs are meant to contact don't do it very well.
Now, led lighting has come on since I did this conversion, maybe 6 years ago so I may look into the latest SMD LED's for certain jobs on the car.
I still get enjoyment out of the switch particularly at night when it looks the best, vivid and bright against the standard weary glow of incandescent bulbs - I think it suits a dark interior. I also added backlit door pulls and footwell lighting, it gives the car more energy.
