Its an early V8,
The part numbers are different for the supercharged and n/a but I've been told the n/a radiator fits the R.
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F372707393942
Asked the seller to and they said it fits an XJR too.
A little confused? Ordered it anyway,
Previous owner said the AC didn't work because there was a leak in the rad, I'll change that out too

1997 X300 body to put into ?
There is a difference in how the radiator cooling fans are controlled through the large fan control module ( actually a relay package )
The white X3oo module ( controlled by switches ) will not work with the V8 engine ECU controlled fan module ( black )
See the difference in the wiring guide page in this pic for the X300
and page 45 for the X308 ( 1998 )

There is no difference between XJR and XJ radiators. There are some (minor probably) differences between the early radiators (up to VIN 832727) and the later ones. I do not know whether the later radiator would fit the early X308.

On my 10/97 built 98’ XJR, I changed my radiator just yesterday when I also replaced the condenser. Both the radiator and condenser I changed out were from an 02’ XJ8. The radiators were identical unless it was changed out prior to me getting it but the condensers were night and day different. Mine had the old tube and fin design and the 02’ condenser was a bar and plate design.

It is recommended that the dryer section be replaced as the original may internally come apart releasing the small particals clogging the thermo expansion valve
run about 35 US
uou can also blow compressed air in both directions to ensure no particals are present in the lines

I hear you on that drier replacement Lady P. I’m very familiar with the infamous X300 drier came apart scenario. I did replace my drier about 3 years ago just for that very reason even though it’s a semi-different system but that X300 got me thinking about that. 😁 I had the A/C open for a short amount of time and I had a vacuum on it for 30 minutes along with a leak test performed by the machine and all is good. Just ordered an evaporator and expansion valve today ($50 for both delivered) just to stay ahead of the game. I’m sure it’s got loads of debris seeing as it has 254K miles on it.
