I would check your local wreckers- you might find one today for about the same price- only takes about 10 minutes to replace.... you could get it done today.

Are they using new gaskets?

Our local yards are worthless for anything foreign. Anyways, I guess their ideal of quoting me a price on a new valve cover was going ahead and ordering it and letting me know how much it is. At $230 it wasn't as bad as I expected. However, I picked it up today and the final total was $4064 Brings my invested total to around 6K, and i will be pressed to get it back, 4k being my keep point. Oh well. I guess I'll go troll the for sale section ot find the few other odds and ends it needs. I also have some codes I need to pull and post. Picture after I got it jome for the first time today.

Beautiful- I like the silver (2nd to black) I came very close to buying a silver sport but the guy wouldn't come down $200.

Look at it this way- you have the big problems sorted, so if you keep it 6 years, it's less than $100/mo.

I was at home depot the other day and a guy FOLLOWED me into home depot, ran up to me and began asking me questions about what were the good years to get, where could he find one- and asked me if I was interested in selling mine to him.... I politely declined.

These cars are unique and admired- well worth the occasional headache they sometimes produce.

I'm wondering that too, I haven't had time to look it over top to bottom yet, but the front bumper seems to be off a bit, along with the passenger mirror busted up, so I'm wondering if it had a slight run in with something. It wasn't on the auto report.

My first XJR I had was also a 99 that I bought 7 years ago, It was Black on black, Mint with 36k miles. Paid 14k for it, drove it 6 months, until the $300+ month insurance and $400 month car payment did me in. I have missed that car ever since, so when this turned up for $1300, I figured I could get it going fairly cheaply. Oh well, I suppose I could have elsewhere, but have run the risk of hacking up the fuel lines or messing up the timing.

What's my best solution for a RV mirror? Mine has the auto dim liquid failure, I saw the thread about sending it in and getting it fixed for $95, however, I see newer one on bay for alot less. Was the problem fixed by 04? Do other models use the same mirror/ harness?
Thanks

A few things I noticed today driving, the mirrors auto dip in reverse, but don't seem to return to previous position once in drive. Seats move forward when you shut car off, but also don't return to previous position, and I don't think the memory settings are working. Is this all tied together? The drivers seat upper half doesn't recline, but does come forward. Switch or motor? I assume it is same motor, just forward and reverse. Bass seems lacking, and I’m getting crackling sounds on bumps, would the sub have been messed with during fuel pump replacement? Haven't had time to look yet.I will search these out, but if anyone wants to chime in, feel free too.
Thanks
