I just paid $8,500 for a 2002 with 71,000 miles with all maintenance history in nearly new condition. Your asking price is fair for a low mile, well documented XJR. Knowing that the tensioners have been replaced is great. I still bet people will try to see some wiggle room in the price.
Good luck with the sale.

Over here we have to have lights on always. New cars nowadays tend to have daytime running lights from factory and some people add those to older cars as well so I suppose that has been the idea.

I've never bought a car with resale price in mind, I've never bought a car and been thinking about selling it. If I buy a car, I buy it because I expect to be a faithful friend whom I can rely on and be ready to leap into action at all times. Even my Saab 9-3 which I bought after my last X308 died was bought with that frame of mind. Even though I hated it and sold it I was still a little bit, just a little mind, sad when the guy who bought it drove away.
I've owned 8 cars and I've only ever sold 2 of them. My first car I sold, my second car I still own, my third car (and first Jag) was written off in an accident. My fourth was a £300 beater I bought short term and gave away. My fifth was my second jag which outlived my sixth car and third jag which was also written off in an accident. The seventh was the Saab and now I have my eighth and fourth Jag. I intend to keep this one for a very long time, probably until one of us dies.

Well the first Jag was written on when an Elderly Gentleman ran into the side of me "because he didn't see me" ![Icon Really](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_really.gif)
The third Jag, an X Type Estate, was being driven by my Dad when another Elderly Gentleman ran into the front corner at a junction "because he had bad legs and couldn't get to his brake pedal in time"![Icon Really](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_really.gif)

Yep, I remember that!! I was so pleased to see an X308 on the TV. In a much earlier episode of "The Sopranos" Dr Melfi has an X300 which Tony has fixed for her. She later is seen driving Saabs.
I always liked Tony's Chevy Suburban as it was not the kind of car you'd expect a Mob Boss to drive. I felt they sold out when they put him in a Cadillac SUV in the later seasons.

I didn't enjoy that video, it annoyed me actually. This "old man" image is something I've been up against since I bought my first X308 when I was 22. The reason old men tended to buy the Jaguars was because they bought them when they were young men in the days of the MK2 and E Type and have remained brand loyal. They were that good. People like Mr Plato have this preconception about Jaguar, an opinion that seemingly can't be changed. I got the impression from that video that he wasn't going to like it from the word go. Give him a Subaru Imprezza or a skittish Mitsubishi to keep him happy.
I've added a link to when Richard Hammond reviewed the X308 XJR when he was working for a channel called "Men & Motors" in the UK. I'll mention here that I don't like Richard Hammond at all. I think he is a total tool who is playing the role of an excited child, which is difficult to pull off when you're in your 40's. What annoyed me about his review is his lack of fact checking, he states the car has "fairly convincing fake wood" which is untrue as it is real wood veneer. But anyway, have a look and see what you make of it.
