Hardly "sexy" pics, but today was the first day it hasn't rained since I picked up my 2001 VDP two weeks ago, and so I had a chance to wash the dirt off her from when we picked her up.
I ordered these grill inserts, will post pics when they arrive and are installed
I did the same some months ago, and although personal, made a much more positive change than expected.
I left the lower chrome splitter as is, I think mesh there is an overkill.
So the lower grill slat does come in chrome . Is it real metal or plastic ?
Lower grill slat is plastic

I agree, I don't have any intention of doing the lower mesh.

Will do. I e-mailed them asking about details as the pictures are vague. They responded promptly, and the items seem OEM design. Should be here before next weekend, so will post then.

OEM by whom? The Chinese knockoff company? I hope it works, but when someone falls back on that as their response, it says they don't know and I'm very skeptical.
Sorry, that may have been misleading, they didn't say OEM, I interpreted their response to my inquiry to mean that the product was of a duplicate design as the original, it was me who used the term OEM. ("the items seem OEM"........... "seem" probably being the operative word!)
As they do not post close-up pictures of their product it is difficult to judge their style or quality, I just wanted to confirm that the product was of two piece design, had the rubber insert surround, and was of quality ss mesh.
But I guess I won't know for sure until it arrives, when it does I'll report.
I took my XJ to work this morning because I had to drive 30 miles to my parents house afterwards to collect my Dog. Weekends are always very quiet in my depot, so I took the XJ and parked her in between two of the Boss's cars. One is some Chevy American thing that is so boring looking I can't even be bothered to find out what it is and the other is his X350. The X308 is IMO miles better looking than any X350.
I finished work around 1600 and took a relaxed scenic drive round the area I grew up. I stopped to take a photo of my XJ with the dramatic sunset.
My car also has the chrome vane in the lower grill. It's OEM and it's made of plastic. Keep it clean though as you don't want to use abrasive cleaners on it.
That my friend, is the crappy early-mid 90's Caprice Classic (US name version). It was perhaps one of the greatest pieces of garbage ever created. They didn't even last 2 yrs with police departments because of many mechanical failures (trans, electrical, differential...ect) and poor performance. ....ugly as sin to boot.
Keep your cat away from it, don't want it to catch any nasty diseases.

I’ve worked for this company for 10 years and in all that time I’ve seen that car move 3 times. It’s one of the most boring things I’ve ever seen in my life, whoever designed it was obviously asleep or something. It is crap.
Yeah, Parking the XJ next to it was almost insulting to the car.
The 2 things other than the body lines, that stand out to me, are the slight recesses of the headlamps and grill. It just gives her that panache. Perhaps it was Stu's great parking job?
I agree that when I saw my X308 next to an X350, the X350 appeared to be bloated. However, the X350 is still one of the best looking cars on the road despite that. It still looks like a Jaguar. Not a big fan of the new XJ styling - it doesn't look like a Jaguar. Talk about bloated, it looks like the new XJ could eat my X308.
The trick to have the mesh looking good in a chrome surround is to have the surrounding rubber installed, it gives a nice extra accent.
If installed without it, it looks rather dumb.
