Will it buff out , someone in town has one in that state and asking if it is feasible for a 237 k miles X300 to be brought back decently without repainting .

You'll be able to buff that back to a polished finish, but you'll have to take off a lot of the clear. If it's flaking and down to the actual colour coat then you'll want to respray it with a clearcoat at the very least, otherwise in a couple of months it will just go back to how it was before.

The other option is vinyl wrap. Price wise it's probably in the middle, between an expensive full respray and a cheaper cut and polish.

Thought before about what you said and guessed maybe a once a year rebuff but then this is a outdoor parked car and may look off as the clearcoat edges progress wider , but then it would be a cheap try as he justifys the mechanical repairs . He has a need the relapse a damaged hood so this would require a shop visit . You mentioned that the exposed base coat would be hard to keep looking like the areas with the original clearcoat intact ?

No one has posted a pic here in several days, so I thought we needed one.

I take mine in for the Transgo mod a week Tuesday.

Not a big fan of the new XJ styling - it doesn't look like a Jaguar. Talk about bloated, it looks like the new XJ could eat my X308.
I prefer the current XJ 351 over the X350. The X351 looks huge in comparison to the X308, but coherent in its proportions. And still distinguished enough to confuse it with an Audi, Mercedes ot something alike. The X351 just looks clumsy imho. The designers didn't do the XJ series a favour with the X351. And consequently, sales began to drop rapidly with this model.

Look how big the doors are and how small the windows are on the XJ 351. Also, the low trunk on the X308 allows for much better rear visibility. One thing I really love about the X308 is it's great visibility when driving, especially for a luxury sedan.

[QUOTE=rsgensburg;1870129Also, the low trunk on the X308 allows for much better rear visibility.[/QUOTE] - at the cost of not being able to fit as many bodies in there!

It's my only gripe with the trunk, really. Not that there isn't a lot of room in there, because there's more than expected. But it's one of the tradeoffs for the style. Having the gas tank there, eliminates fold down seats as an option. Can't argue the look tho!

Yes, I think Jaguar listened to people complaining about the relatively small trunk space for a luxury car and that led to the creation of the new bloated XJ8s. Personally for me, if it can hold 2 sets of golf clubs, i am happy. I also think that governmental safety mandates dictated changes in styling which also led to uglier cars. And they make them get rid of the leaping Jaguar hood ornament for safety reasons (all of those millions of pedestrians getting impaled from the leaping cat), which is an awesome vestige to the days of when cars were works of art.

The high boot is also for aerodynamics and fuel economy

Ouch, made a mistake in my post. Where I wrote

"The X351 just looks clumsy imho. The designers didn't do the XJ series a favour with the X351. And consequently, sales began to drop rapidly with this model."

it should read

"The X350 just looks clumsy imho. The designers didn't do the XJ series a favour with the X350. And consequently, sales began to drop rapidly with this model."

Nevertheless, imo the X308 is the most beutiful car ever built. I would never give up my X308 Daimler for one of its successors.

Eric,

Do you have a body kit? The front bumper, and sides seem extended.

Default Thoughts on lowering?

What are your thoughts on lowering? I made a Paint edit to make it seem a bit lower, compared to the current (stock) height.

Yup, front lip, side skirts and rear lips, plus those rubber "feelers" on the left and right front for some protection.
