Ah, that's why I didn't see you in the entrance list, you were working!
A good friend of mine was the one driving the BMW 135 that took on the powerpole
This was taken on the Silver Fern rally, I was one of 4 Assistant Clark of Course, but yes I was mid point official on the South Island Targa as well. Car went well on both events, this was at the Tui Brewery after traversing a stage on the Silver Fern
I don't know if you thought about the 20 year old clearcoat on the wheels but it can be removed to bare metal with 1 pint of aircraft quality paint stripper for all 5 at the auto parts store
This after I tried polishing the original old clearcoat that has aged
You can try the spare tire
The paint stripper will not harm the tire so no removal and washes off with dishsoap and water

I hope to have some new eye candy to add here this time next week. Figures that it's been the very rare state of rain less for a week+ here. But as the paint stage moves into the final stage, the pollen war & storms are starting to form lol.

All of these photos have got me all excited about bringing my 2003 XJR-R1 out of storage again. I should be exposing it to the light of day in about a week, then a quick cut, polish and wax, some vacuuming and general Interior clean-up and the Leaping Lady is back on the road. Its a great car in British Racing Green with the Bone Leather interior and it only has about 60,000 kms on it. I plan on using it a lot more this year.
And just as a hint, some horrible old cell phone shots of the car.
Not the greatest photos I've ever taken, but they're feeling very sexy because after about 10 weeks straight of ice, snow, slush and salty brine on the roads in Michigan, spring seems to finally be on its way. So my '99 Vanden Plas Supercharged finally emerged from its longest-ever winter slumber this week.
That's a beautiful car Patioboater! Very elegant looking.
These pictures are actually kind of lame because the light is coming from the wrong side; the car actually looks glossy and shines better than the picture. But, I had a great day off today where I took the XJR out of the garage and drove to the range for a little target shooting. Just what I needed to unwind after a long work week. Despite the low picture quality I wanted to share what a nice "X308" related day I had.

The X308s look so good in white!
It's been raining, hailing, blowing, thundering and lightning here for the past week or so and the Jag has been stuck in the garage. I backed it out just a little so I could get to my white board while I worked out on the weights in the garage, and I thought the light caught it just right to show off the wonderful front end lines of the hood and grill. These Jaguar lines are absolutely classic, and they should never have got rid of them.
Your Carnival Red car is one of the prettiest Jaguars I've ever seen. My favorite colors for an X308 (in order of preference) are 1) Carnival Red 2) BRG 3) Dark/Navy blue (don't know the Jaguar color) and 4) White.
When I was shopping for an XJR the most important quality of course was condition; how much has it been loved. Second priority was color. I found Carnival Red and BRG XJRs but none of them were in nearly the condition of the white one so that's the one I bought. I've always liked white cars in general and have owned several including a Silverado and an Acura. One thing about white X308s though, they look better in person than they do in pictures.

Thank you Harvest, I really appreciate your compliment, I really like the silvers, most cars look so good in silver, and with the X308 it gives a very expensive/quality look. I like the dark blues, it gives them such a sophisticated/rich look. I like white cars, and have had many, While white doesn't "shine" or "reflect" light like deeper colors, when really polished and detailed they look fantastic and the X308 looks especially good in white.

Really want me to take my vdp out of storage for a while.
I wait w/ bated breath lol. Any day now, this guy's very meticulous & genuinely excited to have a X308 in his shop, so I know it will be as thorough as possible. I was in the shop last Sunday to drop off some parts & he pointed out a couple minute flaws that I hadn't even noticed on the trim moldings & he was like "Well I've definitely got to re-do that one". The paint's actually been done for a while now, he's letting sit in his bake booth as we are in the pollen blitz season here.
I've also spoken w/ a local guy who does woodwork in high end yachts for a well known local company Hatteras Yachts & he would be glad to have a look @ my wood & see if it's something he'd like to take on. It's surely coming together !
But these cars' are indeed works of art w/ the lines & the cohesiveness it has w/ lighting.
