Hey rsgensburg, are you stowing bodies in the trunk or is the *** end sagging a bit? Perhaps its just the tilt of the earth and it just looks off to me?
You are being very polite, Chris. It's definitely not a classic part and horribly clunky with a big thick pedestal. You can also see that there's a depression in the bonnet where it's mounted. I've been too frightened to remove it for fear of what it's hiding and not being able to get it back on again! If you knew the bodges I've found in this car (I've already shared the bumper experience), you'd know why.
The car only cost me £1,900 and I really like it but I'm not going to invest in it (emotionally or financially) until Matt at North Wales Jag Centre has it up on the ramp and give me his opinion later this week. If I decide to keep it, I'll bite the bullet and remove the leaper. I'll either replace it with something a little more elegant or make good the dent and the mounting hole - the bonnet needs painting anyway.
I have to say that I really like the car and the colour but, because even my wife likes it, I am seriously thinking about letting it go and replacing it with a Daimler Super V8 (just like yours, in fact). I just love the classic Jag style and it beautifully complements my 1982 XJ6.
Well, I finally got the car to Matt yesterday. To be frank, I wasn't expecting good news and, sure enough, there's a fair bit to to do on the suspension and steering. He was glowing in praise of the body and drivertrain, however, so it's full steam ahead - a full suspension overhaul with new shocks, springs, bushes etc. I can't believe how pleased I am to know that I'm going to keep this car and it's going to drive and look the way it should! Only problem is that I might need to consider selling the old Volvo to make room and reassure my wife that I'm budgeting sensibly - I love that old V70 so it will be a wrench.
Very nice Anton. I was going to say you are not in Georgia anymore, but then I noticed your location says Atlanta.dobro pozhalovatʹ drug. The dam in the picture looks almost exactly like the one on Lake Douglas
near Knoxville TN.

Thank you)
Yeah, its Morgan Falls Dam and you are correct, Im from Atlanta
And a little bonus, playing with an expensive thermal IR camera from work after a short drive. The dark spots on the intercoolers etc aren't a defect in the image, the paint has rubbed off in those areas revealing matte metal, which actually becomes mirror-like in LWIR, so the dark is actually reflections of the sky or other ambient stuff.
