Default LHD Seat Cover Help

Hello,
One of the things that bothers me about my car is the poor condition of the driver's seat. The leather has been creased and stretched by the big bottoms of previous owners, it's well beyond saving with dye.

I've been scouring eBay for months looking for a good one, but I'm not going to find one in the UK I don't think. So I'm wondering if anyone in the USA or other LHD country may be able to help me out?

I'm hoping someone can find a passenger seat or RH seat from a Left Hand Drive car and remove the skins, then send them to me here in the UK. I'm thinking a passenger seat from a LHD car would be in better condition than any UK drivers seat.

My interior is 2000 onwards sport in AGD Oatmeal, I've included a picture for reference. I know it's a long shot but any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
S.

Looks better than it is.

Stu,

you probably will ignore this but... I would simply take the whole seat. They are the same, driver UK and passenger EU or passenger UK and driver EU. A friend did a full conversion and there was no difference.

I'll reach out to my sources here.

Damien

The problem with taking a whole seat would be the shipping, it would be very costly whereas just the seat skins by themselves would be a lot less. My thinking here is a LHD passenger seat will be a lot less worn than a drivers seat. The seat backs are the same on the cars, but the bases are obviously different due to the switches and centre console.

I was digging round in both seats today and I notice there is some difference in wiring on my 2001 car, perhaps to allow for the memory or auto movement of the seat.

If you do find one in Germany, I’d be interested to hear back.
Thanks.

Shipping could be a few bob. I got a whole pallet of stuff from the UK for like £120 in shipping, but understand where you're coming from. As said, the only difference is front left or front right, no differation between LHD and RHD unless only your driver's seat is fully powered and the passenger's isn't. I was thinking the same for my driver's seat. The XJR seats are rare here.

I've contacted my Jaguar seats dealer to see what he has in stock. Quick searches show a different pattern to be more common here (with multiple 'stripes' in the seating surface opposed to the 2 in your picture). As soon as he answers, I'll get back to you.

I just posted some pictures on the "What did you dfo to your X308 today" thread, regarding repairing my driver's seat leather, and it only cost me $50 US, your seat might need a bit more work than mine did. Anyway it's another option.
Good luck
Clive

Sorry to say: I can't get hold of one or even a set. Nobody has that pattern as you have... Nearly all XJs with creme interior had the 'many panel' style seats... My eyes are kept open though!

Thanks anyway, it would appear it’s going to be a difficult task this one. I’m tempted to retrofit the older style interior, but at the same time I could potentially have something bespoke made up by a trimmer I know, Bentley trained as well.

One thing I did find was this place in the USA. They make a variety of X308 and other Jaguar leather seat covers from the factory specifications. These are replacement skins, so will be a nice fit. There are a number of custom options available, but sadly they also don’t do my seat pattern, nor do they appear to offer a sport pattern for the rear seats.

I’ll have to muse on this for a while whilst I decide what to do, either way my knackered driver’s seat with a tear in the lower apron needs to go.

Thanks Daverb, I looked on eBay USA myself as well as various eBay sites in Europe. However I’ve managed to find an interior in good condition here in the UK, and I’m collecting it on Saturday. I should be able to make one excellent interior out of what I’ve got.
Thanks Again!
