link for xj8 2000 driver side door panel removal
this is kind of related to a post i recently made...having to do with replacement of the driver door switch pack for my 2000xj8l. i do have some limited functionality on the switch.....used a hair dryer but still can,t get the driver side window to go down. i have located a used one from e-bay....dansynautoparts ....with a 94 rating and was wondering if anyone has bought parts from them.
forty bucks seems like a good price. hard to find videos for removal of drivers side door panel however, and was wondering if there is a link on this forum for info related to door panel removal...thanks

Yes, this is a very clear one with pictures of the driver's door.

I used it before removing all my panels, you can't go wrong.

eric, thanks for this.....its a good starting point....of course i am not looking to change out the handle but just the driver door switch pack(on the door handle).....but i see the screw behind the handle cup and one under the arm rest must be removed. i can also see where the clips for the door trim are and this helps with removal....because i am not replacing the handle and associated linkage i don't think i need to slide the door wood veeneer....unless i am mistaken...

If I recall well, you will need to remove the switch pack with the armrest removed.
In order to do so, you will need to remove the door panel, as the screws holding the armrest are on the inside.
And in order to do that, it is absolutely necessary to pop out the wood veneer on the rear, then slide it backwards and remove. otherwise you will crack the wood or break the lips.
I can only advice you to buy such plastic tool, it is worth the little money and will prevent you from damaging anything.
With the tool and some care, you can not go wrong.

you mean the suck plastic tool to remove the veneer?.....from your description......it would be used to adhere to and than slide the piece....i guess to the left.....where do i get one and what does it look like?what you are really saying i guess is that even though the switch pack is located in the arm rest.....the door panel has to be removed to get to it....

I bought mine in a car-shop, something same like post #1 of the link I sent you above.
It is made of relative soft plastic, so if you damage anything, it is the tool, not the wood (or whatever you remove with it, it comes in handy at many places).
And yes, I am pretty sure the panel has to come off, and the armrest then removed before you can remove the switch-pack.
I think it is also described that way in one of the service bulletins.
But to be sure, pls. check a bit more, the search engine on this forum is your friend.
