Trying to replace cabin filter in a 1998 XJ8. Not sure how to access from the interior.

 

The filter is not on the inside of the vehicle. The air particle filter system (where fitted) is located in the plenum below the windshield . I don't think the USA vehicles were fitted with the filter. At least mine isn't.
You have to remove the windshield wiper and the remove the plenum cover to access the air inlet ducts.

 

Even if your car has one, weren't those filters around $200 for one?

Those pollen filters ( was 4 of them )have been NLA ( No Longer Available) since 1999 for the X308

 

I have a 1998 V8 Vanden Plas and was wondering if there was an inside air filter and where it was located. I am just browsing info in the forum and coming across some questions and getting this answers. Thank you very much

 

No inside air filter. A very few of the early models (sold only in Europe?) had a "pollen filter" that was installed in the cowl just below the windshield wiper.
