Looking to get an XJR but man it seems scary ...

I've been trying to look at cars but man, these things sell quickly. By the time I can line up a meeting which is generally a few days from when I contact the seller, the bloody thing has been sold!
I guess that's a good thing though, it means the cars do have value and are worth purchasing. The hunt continues.

I would like to jump in here as I am also considering an XJR. Looks like my 02 VDP is a goner from what the insurance first told me. Just as soon it is as to have it repaired I think. I'm a Corvette guy. You find the same thing on all the Vette forums. WE compare types, talk about problems, seek help..that's what's great about these forums. There's not a car on the road that won't have problems of some sort so really good to have car forums with open discussion. It took me a bit to adjust tot the CDP..have liked Jags since in my late teens. Still got a Corvette but I drove an STR the other day (2003) and enjoyed the power ( I would have to adjust or just stock up on tires LOL). I'm thinking XJR, XJ Sport or STR. STR has the nostalgic look but that would not be the sole reason to get one. So what are your thoughts for these three types of Jags, please? I am not sure of the XJ Sport as to the difference with it and an XJR. I guess supercharger is it? Appreciate your comments. Also if you think I should take this message to another thread or post a new thread with it let me know in case I may be a little off topic here.
Thanks,
Bill

XJ Sport
Hi Bill,
Sean hit the nail on the head with his comment on the XJ Sport.
It is just a decaf version of the XJR.
No supercharger, no extra power over the 4.0 Liter Van den Plas.
Just a slightly stiffer suspension, anti-roll bar on the rear axle, grille and boot-lid finisher in body color and big wheels.
So if you are looking for the extra power (363 HP over 284 HP) you'll have to go the SC route with an XJR (or the Daimler Super V8).
Good luck!
David
