Congratulations on your new X100, beautiful on those wheels.

One word though; from the pictures you posted I see several parts missing (fuse box cover, left cover liner, panel bolt, etc besides of the issues you already mentioned). I am sure there will be others as well.

For me, this is a clear indication that previous work done on this car was less then professional, and should be a reason to go all over the car soon, just for peace of mind, as one never know what other shabby things you might find.

Good luck, post more plzz.

E.

Very nice! I'd get a cover on that fuse box soon though, just to be safe! Congrats!

Thanks everyone!

Yes, the fuse box cover is something I plan to remedy soon. I pulled the 'spare change' tray out of the dash to investigate the blower motor, so that is why it is missing in the picture.

The car does have a few odds and ends to get sorted, but over all is there and is solid...and a BLAST to drive. It is just a pleasure to drive leisurely - it just effortlessly propels you forward and does all things well.

I will certainly making myself known around here, hopefully not a bother.

Shotimer:

1. Your Manual will show a "full size" rim and spare, but mine came with red mini "donut." Bought a near-perfect Jag XK 17" alloy rim with near-new Pirelli P6000 on it. Aspect ratio makes it fit my 18" OEM rims. You will need threaded metric rod (6mm?), wing-nut and rubber gromet to secure spare. (Mustard colored piece.) OR, you could try the new "hi-zoot" inflation/sealer kits and save about 45 lbs.

2. A/C on 88k '03 XJR is VERY capable. Icy cold windstorm.

3. Those rubber end pieces on alum. trim come WITH the trim piece. (Drip Rail, for example). They are sensitive to UV and crumble. I tried black electrical tape...no luck. Watch your fingers !!!!

4. Brembo upgrade has evoked some dis-satisfaction over "Chatter/shudder." Not sure if pads or rotors problem.

5. You might consider Ate 200 Super Blue brake fluid, and high quality full syn 75W-115 in diff. in SoSoCal. I spoke with Red Line and took their recommendation.

6. Jack point rubber inserts frequently "go missing." Find a wrecked Jag and they are about $2 each.

7. I see a "Leapers" coming and crossing! Can't believe peoples republik of kalifornia will allow you to drive car as designed (NO front plate).

8. Custom mats (black with gold Leaper and J-A-G-U-A-R) are avail and reasonable. Also clear "gripper" protective mats.

Shotimer--I have both a "mini" donut AND a full-size Jag rim with tire. (Donut limited to 50mph/50mi.) Jag alloy rim for '98-99 XJ, 17x7.5" with Pirelli P6000 spare to match 18" XJR tires. Please advise if interested.

Any xjr and that include the 100, if equipped with brembo brakes need either 19" or special. Factory 18" Milan wheels to clear the calipers
You must have a regular braking system xjr to believe that you can use a 17" wheel

Thanks for the offer, but as luc stated, I think i'm stuck getting a 19' rim due to the brakes.

Grats with your new stunning jag. I wonder why prices in europe are 3 to 5 times higher for same cars(. 7k dollars for that is just a bargain.

About tensioners...
Metal tensioners were used starting with engine# 010813xxxx.(13 august 2001) theese will be found in 2002 cars most likely.
You can find the engine number on the block looking from underneath- driverside around the steering pump somewhere.
If you lucky to have 3rd gen metals I wouldnt bother with replace due to they will not fail criticaly.
