Question Looking for a new OBD reader

I'm looking to buy a new OBD reader. The Innova I've had for 15+ years still works great, but it only does OBD stuff -- no ABS capabilities. I checked with Innova, and nothing they offer will pick up the Jag ABS codes.
Does anybody have an OBD reader they like that picks up the ABS codes on these cars? Ideally, it would also do live data but I have that on the old one which works fine so that's not a must-have...
Thanks
Steve

I recall someone posting about using a Foxwell, I had thought of getting the iCarsoft...both of those are direct connection. That was before getting the ELM327 because of the Bluetooth and I use Torque Pro app. I'm not sure if the ELM does ABS?

I went on iCarsoft's website, and seeing nothing that specifically indicated compatibility sent an email to their support people. Here's the response I got:

"I'm afraid that your Jaguar is a little old. You can try our Land Rover/Jaguar specific diagnostic tool iCarsoft LR V1.0 or LR V2.0."

So I guess more research is in order. I didn't realize 2000 was that old. Heck, my new car is a 2003....
Fortunately, I don't currently have an ABS light (P0354, but new coils are on the way), but I want to have a compatible reader before I have a problem...

That's a lame response,...I'd respond "If 2000 is old, can you explain why the same OBDII setup works primarily the same in all vehicles from 1996 until now?"

Well, since they are too lazy to look up their own equipment, it does say it does ABS here....
https://www.amazon.com/iCarsoft-Version-DIAGNOSTIC-SCANNER-SERVICE/dp/B01DJDJI7K/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1537453787&sr=8-10&keywords=Jaguar+OBD2+scanner+with+ABS https://www.amazon.com/iCarsoft-Version-DIAGNOSTIC-SCANNER-SERVICE/dp/B01DJDJI7K/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1537453787&sr=8-10&keywords=Jaguar+OBD2+scanner+with+ABS
...and it specifies Jag and Land Rover.

I recently purchased an Autel ML619 on ebay for $77. I bought it to find out what is going on with my SRS light. After the purchase, I found out it does NOT read the SRS module, but it does read the ABS system. Hope this helps.

Ditto on M Stojanovic, I have the iCarsoft i930 and it reads abs codes on my 1998 car which is older than yours?. Also have a plug-in device cheap of eBay that I read with Torque Pro on a smartphone, works a treat. Don't know why someone would give such a poor response to your enquiry?

I know it is ridiculous cheap but I bought this one a year ago and can confirm it works on a Jaguar XJ X308 and Mazda Miata NB:

Link

It comes bundled with software and drivers on a CD. ScanmasterELM works best for me. I can read the fault codes with it(fixing them is a whole different story ofcourse) and clear them.

I have a 3.2 litre XJ8, 2001, x308 and have been trying to get an OBD reader for systems other that the Engine.
I have found that the TORQUE for Android with an E327 connector works fine for engine codes and can give live sensor info. However that is it's limit.
I have subsequently tried the Icarsoft I920 which I found to be useless. Not only did it fail to recognise any module other than the ECU but the readings from the ECU where all over the place.
I have contacted support resulting in a reply of "try the newer model"

I have now contacted Foxwell giving specific details of the car including VIN number and my requirements and had a reply confirming that the nt530 does do as required.
I have now got a NT530 but it fails to recognise the car. It does not recognise the OBD protocol in use, it will not read the VIN.
If one manually sets to use the only ISO protocol the device does pull out some engine sensor info. However it cannot communicate with any other modules.
If one digs really deep into website info the supported XJ cars are listed as 2002 - 2005. 2001 is not listed.
I am awaiting replies from Foxwell support.

I will bet the issue is the processor. For the same reason I have to replace mine with a late 2001-2003 ECU if I want to get it tuned.

Hi, I have further researched the Foxwell NT530 and found that it does read all the modules on my X308 XJ 3.2 2001.
There are no useful instructions and the intuitive path through the menus does not work. However clicking through the menus manually enables connection.
Select Jaguar
Select Manual Selection
Select Other vehicle
Select VIN range ‘F20645-F99999’ (There's a long list, this selection is for my car)
Select Diagnosis
Select Control Modules
One needs to access some modules with the ignition on but engine not running and others with the engine running.
Having now found how to use the NT530 it looks just the part for the "mature" jaguar.

Can anybody here share info on which OBD reader that will read the gear box oil temperature? (needed for replacing the gear box oil).

I tried an iCarsoft 930 - it would read the codes but would not give data from the gear box.

I have an Autel MX808 scanner. It reads everything; ECU to airbags. It even tells me that the seat memory module needs some attention. I also have an Innova 3160b that I keep in the car for those "just in case" moments.
