Default low coolant light, but its full??

After replacing my distribution pipe and getting it all drivable again, I now have a low coolant light and message. Ive tried to fill it but the resivour is full. Ive tried to fill it when its cold, hot, with the heater on, with the ac on and nothing. I let it run for about 20 mins with the ac going and the cap off to see when the thermostat opened but the level never dropped. Is there another place to fill this thing at or a way to burp the system maybe there is air trapped in the system.
Now the last time I had my hose pop off the car jumped up into the red on the temp gauge and I fear I may have lost a head gasket. but it has not got above the middle mark on the temp gauge so Im not sure, I dont see any bubbling in the filler hole, maybe just a tiny bit when I rev it up pretty good, but the oil does have a few bubbles in it. The car is running as good as it ever has so is it possible that the heads expanded when it got hot and somehow sealed its self back up after the incident was over?
Thanks all.

Default Stuck low coolant float in reservoir

This is a common fault, the donut-shaped float inside th reservoir is stuck on the vertical post. Fish around with a 90 degree seal pick or similar and lift it up, replace the reservoir for reliable operation. I thought you lost your transmission?

Default

i thought i did too but i found it. J/K it acted up a few times but as long as i let it warm up a bit it acts fine. i usually let the jag warm for 3-5 mins before i run it any way so no big deal.
On the coolant issue, thanks Ill give that a try. Is there a chance that the head leaked a bit into the oil and now it could be okay, or is that asking to much?

I could sit here and speculate about stuff all day, and accomplish nothing but starving to death.

Default update

changed the oil and no water, thankfully. The light was on because the vertical post OHIO was talking about was falling out of the bottom the tank.
