lowered suspension
I'm hoping someone in here can help me.
I want to lower the suspension on my car and have it "slammed" as the expression may be. I have found new springs on the net to drop it 40 mm but i want it lower than that. I also had a little search on here and couldn't find anything. I'm hoping someone in here will be able to guide me in the write direction or know a way of lowering the XJ. Oh and before the answer comes back, I want to avoid Air Bag suspension.
Cheers in advance.

RE: lowered suspension
Hi there
I purchased my springs from XKZ Zahran and im staisfied whith them. they don´t slam the car though.
I did have some problems whith aligning the wheels properly after this mod though i couldn´t adjust the camber to factory spec´s but that wasn´t a problem as I wanted more camber anyways
You can put a "spacer" betwen the lower spring pan in the front to get it even lower though i´ve don this on mine and it works just fine.
If youre going to have it lower than what mine are then you will be needing to do some fabrication to the rear and front crosmember to get the wheels aligned OK and then you will need shorter dampers aswell
In sweden i know there are shops that manufacture dampers and springs to what you need but it´s very very expensive.
If you want it low and doesnt care about anything else then getting it low i suggest you just cut your spring but this can danger the safety and ridehandling in a bad way. It doesn´t have to though.

Thank you for all that advise jaggachafen
ye i want a lot of camber so that side should be ok, and wont be keeping OEM wheels, also the arches will be rolled so shouldnt need too much modification...is it possible you could pm me or post up some pics of yours so i can see what height youve got yours? do you know how much you dropped yours in end?
im not going to cut the springs because as you said the problems with safety/handling...ive found a company that do custom made springs so im going to look into that as well.
do you know if i will need to change the dampers with lower springs? or the bushes?

RE: lowered suspension
If you are going any lower than my car you would probably need new dampers yes
otherwise there is a risk that tey will bottom out.
The bushes doesn´t need to be changed when you lower the car but the polyrethane bushes do miracles for the traction and feel of the car.

Great looking car Jagga. Wheels are HUGE - what size are they (they're a bit bigger than I like but impressive nonetheless).
What's the drop that your springs give? I've been looking into the Mina springs, and hoping that it won't take camber way out of spec. I had an E39 540i Sport 6-spd with stagger 18" 8.5/9.5 wheels, and know the damage camber can do to your pocket....lol. Replacing PilotSport2's every 12,000 miles was NOT fun.
I believe my 01 XJR has CATS. Do they all? And, with CATS, I've been told it can compensate for lower springs so I don't need to switch out the shocks. Is that correct? I'd like to retain the CATS system.

Oh, hey, I just looked again at your car and noticed the blacked out trim. Looks awesome!
Did you buy replacement pieces or did you paint them or what?

@jagga
Thanks. I've got deep dish 20" on my XJR and the front could do with a bit of lowering I feel.

Wow, they all have black trim in Europe? Crazy. I might have to try to source some black trim from a friend I've got over there. Lol.
SH500 - Here are clear ones but they're WAY overpriced:

Would look awesome though. On my list to do....
