Over here is every two years, and all they check is the emissions (and that's easy). Tehnically, the car could be a pice of junk (without any seatbelts, airbags, brakes, lights), but as long as it runs "clean" you can drive it for two years. Nuts.
There are MANY cars on the roads in CA that are not roadworthy, and a danger to other traffic. Most cars have working turn signals, but most drivers don't use them! I almost plowed into a truck the other day. He was stopping on the street, and as I was passing him, he decided to turn left. No signaling.
Add to that the cars with no brakes, illegal immigrants without insurance and/or driver license,......and you get the picture.
But as long as we are not "contributing to global warming" it's all OK. Nuts.
