Mahle Oil Filter, 2003 XJR
Hi folks--Looking all over, contacting everyone/everyplace on web, looking for Mahle oil filter. Apparently, Mahle does NOT make oil filter for 2003 XJR. Mann 197/7 was on the car, I changed to Purolator Gold PL15317 (and Pennzoil Platinum Euro Full Syn 5W-40...w/ small Cavallino Rampante logo)

Nothing wrong with either Mann or Mahle. Over the years, Mann has probably been the Original Equipment Manufacturer of more Jaguar oil and air filters than any other company. Mahle has also been a Jaguar filter OEM, but on a more limited basis.
You can search for Jaguar OEMs here:
Jaguar Terminology Database
And the full list of known OEMs is here:

You can look up Mann part numbers here:
Oil Filters, Air Filters, Fuel Filters: Stocking factory authorized distributor of MANN Filters
The correct Mann filter for your car is W 719/7, which I assume is what was on your car rather than a 197/7 ?
At the link below you can confirm that Mann W 719/7 has both a bypass valve and an anti-drain back valve:
MANN-FILTER Online Catalogue Europe - Product Details Oil Filter W 719/7
I buy Mann filters in lots of 6 or 12 on eBay when I find a good price (usually $4 to $10 per filter depending on which car it's for). If I run out of Manns before I find another good deal, I use Wix filters purchased from the local O'Reilly.
BTW, Mann was also the filter OEM for our '04 BMW.
Cheers,
Don

Mann ML1021 oil filter
http://catalog.mann-filter.com/NA/eng/catalog/MANN-FILTER%20Katalog%20Nordamerika/Oil%20Filter/ML%201021
I think I found it through cross-reference with Ford part number. According to that link it fits the Ford and Lincoln V8 engine which is the same as used in the X308 yes?
How can I tell if it has bypass valve and anti-drain valve? I don't see anything obvious in the link I posted.

Hi Auspuff,
I just searched the Mann parts finder for your 2000 Jaguar XJR and it comes up with the same W 719/7 that trottier.ed had on his car:
Oil Filters, Air Filters, Fuel Filters: Stocking factory authorized distributor of MANN Filters
The website offers direct lookup of Jaguar parts - what was your reason for cross-referencing Ford part numbers?
To check the detailed filter specifications you have to go to the second Mann link that I posted earlier. For some reason the catalog at the parts-finder doesn't include the detailed specs even when you click on Filter Specifications and enter the Mann part number. My computer's anti-virus program doesn't like the search function on that page, which may have something to do with it not returning the full specs.
Cheers,
Don
