I have a 1999 x308 and I also have the workshop manual which i may add i a mere shadow of the ones you get with the xj6/12 s3 cars.
Anyway what i am after is a 10,000km maintenance service procedure where all the required maintenance issues are stated to be checked and done so the car can go another 10,000km or so.
For example i wish to change the gear oil in the diff as i dont know when that has been done, i looked in the workshop manual for that and no luck as usual.
advice appreciated
best
Peter

I don't know about a comprehensive service manual but I can help with the diff oil.
The car must be level.
At the rear of the diff on the right you will see a plug. On mine, a square drive ratchet or extension fits in. I can't remember which, but it's either 1/2 or 3/8.
Remove the plug and extract as much of the old oil as you can. Obviously it's easier when warm/hot so bear that in mind. Seeing the plug is easy; getting a tool in and removing not so much. On mine I had to dislodge the diff to chassis mounting frame. That's on a car without a rear anti roll bar; on sport and R models, I imagine there will be more in the way.
So anyway, to extract the old oil you will need a suction device. There is no dedicated drain plug so you will always be left with a tiny bit in the diff.
When you have removed as much oil as you can, put new oil in. I used nearly two litres of 75/90 Castrol Syntrans. Insert until it dribbles out of the hole then replace the plug.
As for the workshop manual, I'm not surprised it does not have this procedure. It won't even have gearbox maintenance procedures (which are more important). Anything which the manufacturer deemed to be 'sealed for life' they didn't bother with.
As most of us know this 'life' period can long be exceeded given proper care of the car.

No I don't think I have that specific procedure.
Others will chime in, but I run the car to warm it up. (hot)
Pull the drain and filler plugs, go away to cut the lawns or some such.
Clean the removed plugs, replace the drain and fill through the level/filler hole until oil starts to run out.
This might be incorrect, but it is what I do.
(the workshop manual is in the Tech Guides section at 70Mb, but I don't think even it has the diff oil change procedure).
