Maybe buying 2000 XJ8 - trying to determine fair $

Having a 2000 XJ8 inspected tomorrow. I expect it will come thru clean as a whistle. One owner car always in Southern CA - post-Nikasil engine; timing chains etc already done. Has a factory rebuilt transmission recently done with some warranty left. All records.
The only issues apparent to me are the beginning of a sag in the headliner; a couple dings. Other wise car is like new.
So two questions - Kelley Blue Book is out to lunch at over $9K. Ebay recent sales are around $7K. Edmunds TMV (true market value) pricing says $6850. Is Edmunds TMV a reasonable frame of reference?
(Poor lady just put close to $7K in the tranny job!)
Any thoughts as to what a FAIR price should be?
Finally - the owner has been through water pumps; the tranny; the timing chains and tensioners, etc, etc and lots of other small and medium "niggles" even though she has been meticulous about maintenance. Which almost makes me think this car might have ghosts. Are there some "bad luck" XJs out there that keep having problems no matter what? Or is it normal to spend a couple thousand a year on maintenance? A lot of the posts I read on the web seem to be from owners who do the basic stuff and drive and drive and drive. Sure would appreciate your thoughts - don't wanna get into a "haunted" car!
Thanks all

You have not stated what the milage is on the car. Personally I would not buy any car with close to 100,000 miles on it. But that's just me. The basic Jag engine is pretty long life and looks like the stuff that does fail have been taken care of. Depending on milage, around $7000. sounds fair to me.

Yo no need to make new threads for the same topic. Its just forum etiquette. You will not get more replies on a new thread. Not trying to be a d*ck, but a lotof the techs on this site have stopped posting and dont visit, sohopefully you can find what you need.

certainly want to be sensitive to the forum - but actually I thought the question was different enough that a new post was offered. In any event, the inspection is complete - the only negative found was the need for new shocks (at around $1,300 or so installed - that was a bit of a shock no pun intended.)
Otherwise all was found to be pretty much in order - tranny only has 15,000 miles on the factory rebuild (with warranty remaining); extensive engine work was done after a timing chain mess.
A couple little niggles - auto door lock doesn't work from the key fob or console button - but the fob works for trunk release so it's not the battery in the fobs
Thinking of offering $6,800
Still would appreciate any input - especially ideas what might be wrong with the locking mech.
thanks
