Default Mechanic says rear strut is broken, can't find part.

Hello, does anyone know where I can find a fitting rear strut or complete spring system for my 2000 Jaguar XJ8? I need it as soon as possible, as my mechanic is ready to work on the car. I can't find an exact match online and auto part shops near me don't have it. Thanks.

The rear hydraulic suspension dampers are available from many parts suppliers.(there are no STRUTS fitted to the rear suspension)

Well what part exactly would make a softened clanking noise on the very left side of the rear suspension system when pushing down on the car or hitting a bump?

Shock mounts could be bad.

Upper damper bushes fail and the damper shaft hits the spring 'hat'. (clanking noise)

Not meaning to be rude, but maybe search for an independent specializing in Jaguars. Your 'mechanic' should know better. . .

Thanks everyone for your input. It appears my mechanic doesn't know much about Jaguars haha. Will go check the car today and try to figure out exactly what part is messed up. May or may not upload a video depending on if it's visible or not
