Default Misfire in cylinder

I am getting a misfire in cylinder 8, the first 1000 revolutions, codes: p0308 and p0316 This in jaguar 2007 XJ8 with 103,100 miles. The plugs are about 20,000 miles old. The injectors are the same that came on the car. The coil packs are new. I did switch the plugs from 8 to 2 and I still have the same problem in 8. Can anyone inform me on how to solve this problem.

Did you get genuine ignition coils or aftermarket ones?

If the plug is ok, you can try swapping the injector from #8 to a different cylinder on the same bank and see if the code follows.

If the code doesnt move, then you will either have a wiring fault from the PCM to the injector or the PCM is faulty internally for that circuit

Just wondering if the code was P1316?

The code is P0316 and not P1316.

SMG,

I had a similar condition. I switched the suspect coil to a different position and got the bad OBD code for the new position. Confirming that particular coil was problematic. I installed a new (used) coil and no more codes generated. I have had new coils (on a Ford) go bad in a short time.

Anyhow its free easy and simple.

I did switch the coils in 8, and still got the code in 8.
