Had a grumbly screech noise coming from the engine bay and narrowed it down to this pulley
I believe this "was" the idler pulley. As soon as the car starts up it becomes red hot and starts melting away the belt.
Just wondering what im looking at and what parts im chasing. Heres another picture
Don't drive the car like that! That is where the idler pulley should be...which looks like yours is non-existant! It appears that the bearing is the only thing left and the pulley itself is gone. And your belt is half as wide as it should be!
New serpentine belt and new idler pulley for you. There are two versions of the idler pulley...there is a smooth version and a ribbed version. Smooth version you can get at Autozone for about $20. Ribbed version is the new updated style...your car may have this or it may not. What year?
