Default mobil 1 atf - conflicting info about compatibility

i have been reading every post about trans fluid and substitutes vs esso LT. one post actually had an email from one of the members directly to MOBIL product info saying that the MOBIL 1 ATF met or exceeded the standards of the ESSO LT. for giggles, i just emailed mobil with the same question and received the following response which now leaves me scratching my head and worried sinse i just had my trans drained and filled with MOBIL 1 ATF.

"No, Mobil does not have a suitable product."

Mobil 1 will work.
The ESSO stuff isn't that good anyway. A long life fluid with lots of detergent. It didn't stop a lot of transmissions from having a short life.

Most of the ZF failures had nothing to do with the fluid -- and yes the fluid is designed to be long lived and high detergent -- that is why you can not tell anything by looking at the fluid color .. it looks dirty.

ZF is very specific as to what fluids to use when performing warranty work -- go to ZF you will see a list.

Mobil 1 is not on the list .. meeting a specification is just that ....it meets a minimum specification -- it does not equate as being the same fluids.

Mobil will tell you M1 meets the specification ... they will not tell you that M1 ATF is recommended for he ZF box ... because it is not.
