I just bought a mint mint mint XJ8 VDP titled as 2003 with 3 previous owners and only 48,000 miles. The door jam label, however, lists the manufacture date as January 2002. How can this be ?? The vincheck service verifies its clean title and such and lists it as a 2003 VDP. Is that normal for such an early manufacture date?

I've deleted your other posts in the X350 and X305 sections, your car is an X308 so this is the right place for you. Please don't post the same question in multiple places, it gets a bit confusing for us

North America had the X308 up to model year 2003, but the 2003 cars were mostly built in 2002 as a run out before the X350 was released.

It's common for Jags to have different production years and model years.

The 10th digit of the VIN is the deciding factor in the U.S. MY designation.

Thank you. The tenth digit is a 3. So that makes it certain that it is a 2003 Model Year?
