My XJ Sport has 134,500 miles on the clock, my previous car had a lot more than that. High Miles on a car is nothing to be afraid of in my opinion as long as the car has been properly maintained and looked after. I'd be far more dubious about buying an older car with low miles because the lack of use or multiple short journeys are likely to cause issues.

As for your XJR, did you need to replace the transmission or engine at any point? Did you have to do any maintenance that required major engine work? Any major transmission repairs or maintenance?

When I acquired the 98' about 3 years ago with 231K I pulled the heads off and had them rebuilt along with new springs, another used set of exhaust valves, new stem seals and valve adjustment. This is the original nikasil engine. I also rebuilt the throttle body because the bearings were toast. There's a post that I started covering the rebuild process. I replaced every coolant hose since most of them were original.
The transmission was gone thru by some unknown transmission shop about 5 years ago but it failed last year. I acquired a 40K mile 03' XJR complete engine and transmission for next to nothing 1 year ago and put that transmission in my car.
I've done multiple other repairs and upgrades since it's an old car but I love it.
