Default Motor oil tests

I came across this oil test with shocking results for some mayor brands ...

They used load ratings wich seem usefull for supercharged performance cars(?)

Seems i have to give Royal Purple a try

This is probably not the most recent test , if someone has better info please share !

Yet amazingly, the engines seem to lead very long reliable lives using the standard oil types recommended by Jaguar.

There's dozens of these tests around that each give 'shocking' results- none of which have any real application to car engines.

Gah!

'Tis the prices, not the test results, that I find shocking

I promise to never complain again.

As for the discussion of motor oil itself, well, I'll make an effort to remain silent. But it's a lazy Sunday morning and I just made a pot of coffee....so I might not be as iron-willed as I'd like to be.

Cheers

I believe the "old adage" was true in the past, but I believe that modern technology has changed that a lot. APPARANTLY testing proves it. I say apparently because I am no materials engineer, so I have to depend on others to interpret data for me.
I do know that engines I go into that have been run with "full synthetic" oil changed at 10,000 miles or so are clean, like engines run on conventional oil changed at 3000 to 4000 miles. Just my visual observation.

I, for one, am perfectly willing to accept that technology has brought improvements in motor oil. Synthetics, specifically.

I'm just not convinced that this translates into much benefit for the average car owner.

But, I'm breaking the promise I mentioned earlier!

I have been using mobile one since 1976. Siri, Mobil 1!

Still, I change the oil every 5000 miles.

These results seem to indicate it's time to change to Valvoline.

I just switched to 40 weight mobil 1, it quieted the engine at start up.

Well, in spite of the conspiracy theorists point of view, I find it significant that Jaguar stands behind a 100,000 mile engine warranty on a high performance 5.0 liter supercharged engine with change intervals of 15,000 miles.
