Hi everyone I am new here. I have a XJ8 year 2000 with no cd multi changer in the boot/trunk. Can anyone tell me which player i should buy.
Will any multi player work or would it have to be a particular make and model. Also any idears where I might get one from, new or used.
Thanks.

Hello.
I have cd changers in both my XJ8 and X300, the XJ8 has a factory fitted jag 6cd unit but the X300 has an Alpine 6cd,![Icon Speaker1](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_speaker1.gif)
Any of your local I C E or accessory shops should be able to guide you,
You are certainly in the right place to get the best advice.
And as always what you get depends on your pocket.
good luck

You must use the Jaguar CD changer. It is an Alpine unit but the communication protocol on the AiNet bus has been changed from standard Alpine so that only the Jaguar branded changer will work with the factory HU.
These changers are readily available second hand on ebay, and can be had quite cheaply, try and get one that has the mounting bracket with it.
The wiring is already in the boot behind the carpet on the left hand side. You will either have to replace that section of carpet, or cut a hole for access to the changer. Just plug the changer into the power and communications cable and it is ready to go, nothing to change in the HU.
I would recommend you plug it in with the battery disconnected.

Hello.
To save you money on your carpet re-jig .
My X300 has the changer mounted centrally under the rear parcel shelf to the metalwork(in the boot )and it is quite well fixed on the two mounting brackets it is not bad to look at will not intrude into the luggage space, and it makes it handy to plug in to the system. Anywhere on that metalwork away from the hinges should be OK.
