I did the drivers side yesterday, as well as around the windshield and rear window... but the front and back just did not want to cooperate with me, I know for sure I want those permanently black... but the side trim i'm not so sure of yet... I think it's because of the plastidip... it's not really up to my standard of fit and finish... good thing it peels off... but up close it's not doing it for me... I may try a glossy black wrap next... that I know I can make look OEM... just don't want anything permanent just yet.

I like the chrome bits on the rest of the car actually, I do have something in mind for the headlights but that's down the road when I get bored

I'm not really a fan of tint... I just like clear clean windows.

Works surprisingly well when backing up in the dark

Any tips on tint removal?

I've never even messed with the stuff honestly... gonna have to youtube that one haha.

My tire situation has come full circle though... I'm going to be running some Falken 452's with a little less sidewall this round... ill post pictures when installed.

I use a hand held steam cleaner - otherwise you end up with glue on the glass.
Pick on edge, steam, pull, repeat...then use a cutting compound to remove any glue, or tar and glue remover, job done.
Johnson tint is the best to use.

Seems to be the method used by the pro shops. The alternative of spraying with ammonia solutions didn't sound too appealing. Especially given the cramped quarters back there. It's amazing they can apply aftermarket tint to the back light in the first place.

Are the side windows lightly tinted from the factory?

Couldn't wait any longer.. black wheel had to go in for now... still need a knob.. thinking about the one that looks like the 100 but with black stitching.. anyone have that part number?

Next.. before spending 100 plus on the emblems.... i decided on a test to see what they look like black... I've also had the idea to do the red around the tails to black like the newer models... plastidip can save you money before you decide fully!

The Picture/Angle of the back with that Tire/rim is Awesome..
Will you be blacking out the Chrome around the rear/front windshields? Liking the progress!

yea probably today... the platidip didn't stick to those pieces so it will have to go permanently black.


Remind me to get those ugly orange bulbs outta my taillights haha... yuk

You said you had plans for the headlights, are you planning on retro-fitting?

I replaced my chrome around my front windshield when I replaced my glass and purchased new chrome trim. It was only like $180.00 from the dealer for the front. Maybe consider buying the trim and painting it off the car? It is good stretch on the arms...

Bro the bulbs in the tails dont bother me half as much as that yellow shift knob! I have been looking for a meaty leather wrapped one for you. Would you consider the shift knob from a STR?? I had a 03STR that would look great in your car. Black Stitched with the R-red/green/silver emblem. It would look incredible and compliment the sweet carbon fibre look IMO.

How much did the rims and tires set you back?

That's $180 into another mod man! haha... I'm just going to paint them no one will notice... it looked like it was going to rain yesterday so I didn't touch it... I love to use this stuff body shops use... it's called Honda Black... it lays down perfect outta the cans and gives a perfect matte black look... Don't mind the wrinkle that was for my 7's trim

Do you know if I have to get the R bolt on the bottom or does it come with it?

Thank you for that info!

Pulled some hubs at the local yard today, the drivers side tie rod end won't budge out of the hole and I didn't have a big enough hammer... ill have to go back for it but I did get the whole passenger side, had to take off the lower control arm with it as the ball joint wouldn't pop out... thinking about using it to press in some new bushings anyway.

I bought my STR in 03 after taking a road trip out west. I rented a 02ST-bone stock with 15k on it and drove it down the coast from Seattle to SF and I was so impressed I got back and bought an STR Blk/Blk put a 143K miles on it before the electrical system blew up. Ask one of the STR guys to snap a pic of it. But you need to get it. They stopped making the STR in 08 I think so you should be able to call a dealer and buy it new. You wont be sorry...

Lower R portion comes with it - be prepared for an expensive part

Why didn't you just buy a 100 instead of attempting to morph one? (I guess you need a 'project' like most of us eh?)

This car was local to me and easy to get, I guess it will just have it's own style like the 100... just all black haha.
