I have no issues with the tranny but I think i'm going to add the blue top's during a fluid change eventually... I will also do the rear diff

I went with Royal Purple on the BMW when I did it's "sealed for life" tranny as well... Made it a lot better overall... I looked it up and I don't think it's compatible with the Benz tranny... so ill just go with the best OEM fluid this time around.

I wish I could somehow add the paddle shifters to this tranny, it's been done but I think you need to have the right valve body.

I like the 100 style knob with the "R" on the bottom.. I think that's sexy.

This car has a long road ahead of it... which I'm glad so I don't get bored with it easily. I've just been constantly researching every part of the car...It also Help's being boosted.

Research Valvoline Dex/Merc. It is listed in a Merc training manual as being suitable. You can also do some reading at the Sprinter or Dodge forums which use the NAG1 transmission which is the same transmission. The blue tops are well known on the Dodge and Merc forums.

If you wanna read about what and where to get tranny fluid... this is a good read...

Where to buy transmission fluid?? - MBWorld.org Forums

Looks like RP is compatible I must have been looking at an old label on a bottle. The cost of the shell 134 fluid would be really nice though.

Or a bicycle brake cable with the right markings on it. Coils up neatly to keep in the trunk to be available on long trips which is when it becomes important.

The Blue Tops make a HUGE difference. I knowingly bought my XJR with a bad trans and motor and had the Trans rebuilt and upgraded. That O-Ring by the dipstick entry into the trans leaked by the next oil change! lol. I bought five of the o-rings and have em in my shop now.. I really like the information you provided on the transmission pan with the drain plug. Going to buy it and put it on..

I liked the black trim around the lights as well as the windshield and rear glass so both went permanent with the honda black this week... it's 15 bucks a can haha.. but well worth it.

looking good, how would you feel about a lower mesh grille? I have one and I think it looks awesome.

I'm not sure how dedicated you are to the blacked out look, but I've always been curious about how black sprayed mesh would look...just a thought

Thanks for being the test car on this! I just orderd my honda black. did you prime prior to the Honda black? I would REALLY like to see you pull the front head lights and black out the chrome. IMO the mesh grille would "pop" even more than it does now...

to test blacking out the headlamp bezels wouldn't be difficult for test purposes, just run black electrical tape around them and take some before/after and different front end angle shots.
They're stainless along with the window surrounds so I'd suggest a good etch primer coat before using the Honda paint. The original Euro blackouts are powder coated.

The beauty of the paint is that it don't really need anything to work... but I scuffed everything with a scotch bite and it worked fine... I would also recommend a good cleaning with alcohol/water after.

The trick is to tape the rubber around the chrome in a way that it pulls it away from it. Then run tape around the edge lines, and proceed to do multiple light coats... I used a heat gun to cure it faster and sorta bake it on in between.

Ill probably test the headlights, you guys have me curious now

Looking at the front pic of your Jag again with the blackout around the front shield really has put the effort together for me. I was not sure but It looks awesome. Great Job man. Can not wait to see the headlights finished. That mesh grille is going to jump out at us...Now if I can get you to start thinking about a 3lb pulley! LOL. Any luck with an R shift knob from the dealer?

Yes, especially on the front turn signals and center mounted brake light. There is not much space and hard usage can melt them. The heat reduction is worth it alone.
