My amazing weekend

My amazing weekend
I am prefacing this by letting you all know my auto experience ends at putting in gas. With the help of an amazing man from these forums, whom has become my hero, I spent the weekend doing a whole bunch of maintenance on my Jag.
1st we replaced my secondary plastic tensioners with the metal ones and the plastic ones were indeed cracked. Then we put on new cam gaskets. We changed out the transmission fluid and put in a new gasket and filter, solenoid was not leaking so we left it alone. We flushed and replaced the coolant and installed a new thermostat. Replaced the spark plugs, what came off was NGK-BKR6EGP and we put on NGK-BKR6EIX-11. I have 8 of the NGK-IFE5N10 if anyone needs them that I got off eBay so I can't return them. I will sell them to you half price . We changed out the differential fluid, bled the brake lines and replaced the brake fluid, performed an oil change and replaced the oil filter. The air filter looked new so we left it alone. And last but not least added my Conventry grill badge. We did not get to the power steering fluid, supercharger oil or fuel filter but I will be going back in a few mths so we can do new front brakes and rotors along with front shock mounts. We looked at where the fuel filter goes and it's a bitch to get to so I will probably have that changed at a local garage. I am going to do the power steering fluid here at home since it is easy and was shown what to do. The plug for the supercharger oil required a longer hex wrench to get to than what we had, does anyone know what size long handled hex wrench I need to purchase?
I had a blast, my nails are wrecked but I don't care, this is a labor of love. For someone who has never done any sort of car maintenance I learned so much! And my new best friend was so patient teaching me how to use all the necessary tools. The knowledge and willingness to help from the members of this forum astounds and delights me to no end!

Congrats Jennifer on a very productive weekend. But I have one issue with all of that, how in the world can you call yourself a Georgian and say "you all", y'all? Dang, ya ought to be banned from Augusta area for that... ...maybe we'll see ya at Ruth's or the Evans Diner for breakfast sometime?
Anywho, mines a 2000 also and I just did the hoses under my supercharger. The originals were borderline ready to go and you can't tell until either they leak or like me, you pull the S/C and catch it beforehand. A little birdie was smackin' me in the head when I was doing my chains and said to pull that S/C.
When I replaced them I found the new ones to be much thicker walled, so be aware that the factory clamps are a bear to get on those new hoses, ....if at all in tight quarters. Not trying to scare ya, just make ya aware....take care y'all.

Be sure and change the cabin filter too. You have covered everything else.
Be aware that the primary tensioners plus the rails and chains need to be replaced also. Replacing just the secondary's will buy you some time so if you plan to keep the car be SURE to listen very carefully EVERYTIME you start the car. This means turn off the radio!
If you are lucky you will hear the tensioners rattle as they begin fail and come apart. You can catch it before they let go if you listen. Well at least some people have! If they let go the valves will hit the pistons and either destroy the engine or at least bend some valves.
