Installing an Ipod into an S-Type
Hello All
Please can someone assist me, I have a 2006 S-Type Jag and I want to install an ipod. I have asked locally in South Africa and they all recommend using the Parrot and with hard wire connection to the Ipod touch. Is there any alternatives. Can I use the CD Shuttle input, and will it be possible to use steering wheel controls to operate the Ipod.
Thanks

Hmm. Satnav....
I was chatting to the wife about where to put the garmin which I might add looks like a lot of clutter and loose wires.... Not my idea of my intention with my x-type.... Certainly worth exploring this option...

This is by far the nicest iPod intergration I've seen. Very well executed! Now it made me think,.......another phone line (cheap), an iPhone (or similar sized smart phone), and my 'pocket' phone forwarded to the one installed in the Cat if I don't answer, by.....let's say the third ring, the phone already has voice recognition and navigation, all the iPod functions (with tons of music),......hmmmm. VERY appealing.
That would solve several of my issues. I don't like aftermarket radios! No matter how nice is the replacement done, shiny, "modern", multicolored radios, don't fit in the interior of my Cat, there is no NAV either,......this could just be a solution. The only problem is,.....I am VERY good with mechanics (cars, bikes, airplanes, guns, you name it), and electronics (computers, phones, etc),.....I suck in building model airplanes (learned this a long time ago!), glueing things together, and severely lack patience. I would love to have it, but I can't do it.
So I'll keep what I am doing now,.....talking on the phone when cops are not around, and listen to the Cat's engine instead of the crappy stereo. Unless............you want a week of vacation in SoCal, filled with horseback riding on the trails, and shooting!

This looks great !!! I had a 98 XJ6 that I sold a few years back and I just picked up a 03 XJ8 and I was trying to figure out how wire a ipod in like this. Can you tell me how this is connected / wired to the head unit ?
Have you done anything with the phone jack to conect a iphone by any chance? Is it possible?
Cheers
Matt
