My key wont open the door/trunk pop button questions

I dont understand why the key will go into the drivers door, but it will not turn. It starts the car and unlocks the trunk just fine. My key fob only works sometimes (i need to clean the contacts), but I would like a backup plan if I ever lock the car. Is this unusual. Also is there a way to disable the button on the trunk that pops it open when the doors are unlocked? Thanks

Assuming the lock tumbler hasn't been changed on the door, the problem is probably a rusted lock tumbler. This usually happens on the trunk lock from lack of use. I am usually able to get it with a little patience. Spray the key with WD40 and insert in in the lock and GENTLY work it left/right/left/right. Take the key out and respray it every half dozen cycles. Keep at it until it frees the tumbler. It takes me 10/15 minutes on average to free a trunk lock this way....again, assuming the lock itself is the original.
