my R caught fire

Did you pay for your repair with a credit card? If so, they may be able to help you out. I had to go this route one time for a car repair with a mechanic that tried to rip me off by randomly replacing my fuel pump without my knowledge and charging me $700 even though he was only supposed to inspect the noisy brakes he had worked on a week before. It was a mess but my credit card helped me out without getting a lawyer involved. Shockingly, it was a very well respected Jaguar shop that did this.

The biggest problem was that the guy at the dealer wouldn't let me talk to his "tech". He would try to explain what his "tech" told him without success, so I would tell him I'm a tech with a couple of ASE's just let him talk to me, but it never happened.

It should be a simple case to understand once the engine is assessed - time to find someone who knows these engines, a bit late now of course....hope you get it fixed without the big bill - good luck.
I wonder if the timing job was a botch, i.e. original bolts blocking oil ways on the secondary tensioners?
