My Results: Plasti-Dip bra-type protectors for the rear bumper.
I didn't get them clean enough to photograph,
(sorry) but this Performix Plasti-Dip product is
a neat solution to protecting paint. It took me
3 attempts before I was sufficiently pleased
with the results, but the semi-gloss finish is
presentable (certainly more so than most clear
bra type things) and very easy to do.
The product I used is clear, Although black, white
and red are offered. This is the spray-type plastidip.
I simply taped/newspaper'd off the car to avoid overspray,
tapered down with tape to get a nice shape, and
laid down 3-4 coats as quickly as possible.
Once done, peel tape immediately, if it dries onto
the tape, you're going to have to start over.
If you screw up, or it dries on white (overlap/runs/
air bubbles) just start over by peeling it off. If you
don't have enough of a coat on there to peel, it
will rub off into little ***** with the palm of your hand.
The temporary nature of the stuff is definitely the best
part. I am thinking about doing my chrome window
trims in their black colour, a-la European spec XJRs.
Cheers,
Ian

I used quick detailer and then a detergent soap for the
prep. Make sure it's nice and dust free. Tape off with
newspapers to prevent overspray. Maybe lay some
down on the ground to prevent overspray there too.
I taped off the mufflers as well to prevent overspray there.
I bought it on Amazon,
It takes some practice but looks great! Maybe I should do the
entire car some time!
