Hi all I have purchased my first jag xj8 1998 not sure if its a x308 or x100 yet 3.2 L, 6 months ago and what a learning curve
the first of was I noticed a short hose connected to the thermostat housing was swolen
so I found S&G Barrett on line (now part owner I think.)
apone removal the pipe that joins the 2 heads had half broken away where the clamps were,
so ordered 1 of those too
ran like a charm.
the started to over heat the lead was at the rear hose that joined both heads together and the header tank
and some sort of heater control, the actual leak was a small split in a t junction located on top of the bell housing
parts arrive (S&G) 3 hours later carby removed top up tank out and a heap of bits finally got the new one in
now may as well change the thermo, turn clamps around to make them accessible.
runs like a dream
now found the drivers seat (RHD) has 2 broken brackets that come off the rails ,they raise and lower the seat
pulled seat out ground off rivits repaired brackets and away we go.
thanks to all I enjoyed the reading so far
I have many questions about the AJ26, AJ26S, AJ27 VVT,
crankshafts and engine strokes ect
anyway thanks again regards Dutchy

Welcome Dutchy - if it's an XJ it's an X308 which is Jaguar's own reference to the model, the X100 is the XK8 of the same era.
