New member needs advice - help !
Hi, I'm new to this so bare with me if I get the protocols wrong but I need some advice.
I've owned my lwb x308 sovereign for just over a year. It runs on gas so my 10,000 miles or so have been covered reasonably economically and up to last week without so much as a hiccup.
Last week, after giving the old girl a bit of beans just before arriving down the M32 in the centre of Bristol - I noticed the temp guage rising and stopped to let it cool down and later got to a petrol station where she blew lots of coolant out the top before I managed to fill the cooling system with about 10 litres of water.
Drove a couple more miles and the guage was rising again and once more coolant was thrown out the top - so stopped and walked to our destination - came back 3 hours later and topped up the system again. Drove slowly 5 milers and left overnight fully expecting to have to call the RAC in the morning.
But I haven't had to - drove slowly and then little by little faster and faster back to Exeter. Since then I have driven another 500 or so miles - the guage always stays steady on half way and the car behaves as it should BUT - THE COOLING FANS NOW RUN FOR A LONG TIME AFTER I SWITCH OFF.
Anybody got any ideas - I'd hate to be doing damage. I intend to get the car booked in at a local garage and get the thermostat checked/changed unless you can tell me better.
Thanks in advance, Adrian
