Default new rebuilt R1 caliper leak!

Good afternoon

I made a post earlier today that I found a leak around my rear right caliper. I fully rebuilt my R1 calipers( full dissemble , powder coating , new seal ) and now it had just about 1000 miles on the them. My mechanic is telling me is has a minor leak . is that the piston?!

I spent some much time and efforts and money rebuilding the calipers and it is leaking now .

frustrating and disappointing.

any ideas?

Well, I’m sure you replaced the small o rings between the halves didn’t you? Really it depends where it’s leaking at exactly. Just take the caliper off and keep the hose connected to see where it’s coming from.

Aye you'll be able to tell looking at the calliper where the leak is from.

If I had to guess I'd start with the bleed nipple, only takes a tiny bit of dirt or powder coat to get under that as it's screwed in & it won't seal against the face in the bottom if it's hole.

that is very my frustration is..all new seals and nipple valves.

only after like 1k miles. I don't say by time length because I don't drive this XJR much but 2 years ago.

only one is leaking but other 3 are good.

my mechanic is an old school guy I have used for a long time whom is a certified Master Auto Mechanic . He takes care of my old cars but almost never dropped the *****. so I dont want to and dont wish that he dropped the ball on this ...

hope if you can feel my pain....

anyone on earth can tell me what is the piston size of a R1 rear Brembo caliper...I am like hunting for the unicorn here. so where can I get on

Jaguar X308 is already not a common car, R is rare..R1/100 calipers are even more so...rebuilding them..probably only a handful guys on earth...rebuilt, failed ..ONLY me in a worst way ...sigh

Until you take the wheel off & look you're only guessing.

FYI... it is not a guess. the car is on the lift, we took the wheel and caliper off and did the pressure test.

it is leaking from one of the pistons.

Fair enough, that wasn't the impression I got from the post. My mistake.

Brembo uses the same size piston in most of their calipers. Just measure with a micrometer and order from any of the number of online vendors.

It’s either a 28 or 30mm piston that you’ll need. There’s 2 different sized pistons in each caliper.

I have found that most of the members in this forum are pretty level headed.
That means we don't take offense often, and try not to dish it out. Most of the
differences I have seen here are due to "failure to communicate" (reference
to Cool Hand Luke intended.)
