New Shocks?
Hi All - my 2001 x308 has 50k miles on it, obviously its almost 24 years old and it still has the OE shocks (non sport black shocks)
Asking for some advice on when do you know its time to replace them. The ride on our cars is much softer than other rides that I have been used to so just looking for some tips. I compare it to being on a boat. At the moment when I hit bumps it does not bottom out but I also know since it has the OE shocks its old.

I bought mine with 46k miles on my Vanden Plas and the shocks were already done for. I originally installed the green sport shocks and later changed to comfort black shocks.
Press down on the front right or left corner and watch see how easy it is to press down, should take some resistance. How quick does it move back in the opposite direction and does it wobble around or settle quickly? Worn out shocks make your car feel like it’s floating at a compromise of its handling characteristics. New black bilsteins are going to be much firmer than you are used to.

My car has 61k; I recently replaced the shocks because of clunking front and rear. The car had also become a bit jiggly. When I did the shocks, I also replaced the coil spring insulators (rear) and the gaiters, bump stops, and upper mounts (front). I used KYB shocks and parts for everything. The car is truly transformed.
