Default Newbie problem with tensioners

I just replaced my secondary tensioners and tighten up everything and all was well, I rotated the engine over by hand and notice that my tension side was now slack and the slack side became tension. When I reached the flats again 360 degree rotation all was tight again. Is this right or is something else wrong, it does not seem right to me. Also would stretched secondary chains cause this?thanks Phil

Are you rotating the engine clockwise?

I rotated the engine clockwise looking at the motor from outside the car, but I'm not sure if I tension the secondary chains in the right order. I put tension on those in a counter clockwise direction from outside the car.

I should have asked a couple of questions:

1. Are the secondary chains the ones slacking or the primary?
2. (this one is basic, but I have to ask) did you remove the pin in the tensioners to release the spring?
3. Did you use the procedure outlined in the PDF to adjust the cams?

The chains will be "sorta" snug because of the springs in the tensioners, but won't get "very tight" until oil gets in them (the reason for cranking the engine over with the relay removed for 60 seconds)

Then, if all went as planned, the car starts wonderfully and everyone is happy.

the slack that I am talking about is in the secondary chain and yes the pins have been pulled and I used the lock down method for the cams. I am wondering if I use to much torque when I tensioned the chains? as the exhaust cam on the right hand bank rotated forward some when I removed the cam locks. Then I rotated it by hand to make sure nothing was hitting and thats when I saw slack on the drive side of the secondary pulleys while rotating the motor. When I get back to the flats its all tight again?

I am far from an expert (other than I did mine also) but if nothing isn't hitting and the chains are not so "slacked" that you would risk it jumping a tooth, I would do the pulling the fuel pump relay trick and crank the engine over to build up some oil pressure in the tensioners and see if they are still slack.
