Default No beeps when using remote fob

Anybody have an idea why I am not getting those classic “beeps” when I lock and unlock my 1998 XJ8 remotely? Everything is working fine, except for that.
many thanks in advance!

The 'sounder' is just in front of the ABS actuator/module (behind the left headlamp assy).

You might check it for bad connection or a 'failed-unit'?

Okay, I’ve been looking for a half hour and I can’t find it! I’ve been “beeping” with my other XJ8 trying to locate it, and no matter where I stand, it sounds like it’s coming from in front center of the radiator. Any way to CONVENIENTLY send a pic of this “module” or small speaker, whatever it is?

I am pretty sure that the 1998 is in a different location from the 2003.

Well that would make sense then...okay, can you describe what it looks like? I don’t see anything resembling a speaker or a horn, anything may help. Thank you motorman!

The 1998 'parts car' I have is different from my 1999, 2000 and 2001 sedans.
The 1998 is where I stated but the others have it under the 'frame' structure under the left headlamp area.

Mine is completely missing, nothing in that space! Okay, at least I know what to look for...unless you are selling parts off of your ‘98?

I would look in the place where the 2003 sedan has it before you determine that the 1998 is missing. Might be some sort of VIN change and the location is different?

Well, it is a Vanden Plas, so maybe it is different. I found one on eBay though.

Okay! Just got under the car and found it, disconnected! I reconnected it and it’s now working...thank you my friend, you made my day!
