So by removing 2 of your bulbs of the 5 the total resistance should decrease increasing your current flow to keep the inop tail light message out

The inop message light should come on with lowered current flow . an example would be a burnt out light bulb filament

Just put in the number 5 ohms for each bulb as an exercise you would have 3 over 5 vs, 5 over 5

All of the lights work...now. I did not replace the 2 burned out bulbs in the high mount yet. I cant get the cover off. Feels like its gonna fall apart. There is a crack in the black housing that attaches to the window. I do have the trunk light bulbs out, they are burnt. Will that cause the message?

Messing around back there did force me to redo the looms. It is not a tangled mess now. I like things tidy.

Fortunately I am well but a surgery has to be done and coordinating it with Covid symptoms and the testing before letting me into the building

The trunk light bulbs burnt out would definitely give you the inop message

Do not remove the high tail light assembly as it attaches to the glass

A pain to reglue

There are post on repairing the high tail light assembly

Maybe a pic of your broken high tail light assembly and maybe someone can identify the solution as the X300 may be different

Your light assembly repair would be a separate topic thread to start

I had the X300 off and can identify the difference if so

There was a good picture filled repair procedure for the X300 From Al R. that I saw before and can find later
