No volume on CD player
I just fixed my CD changer/player using the instructions from this link and fixed my worm gear:

My CD player seems to work now but there is no sound. When I plug in the wire-harness to the back of the amplifier 'shown below", I have no volume control on my radio and with a 1/8th turn of the knob it is at maximum volume and it's either loud of silent. I did notice when I removed the CD changer to repair it, The plug in question was already disconnected.
Is anyone familiar with this problem?
Thanks!

I filled the magazine up with 6 new/used CDs. I tried each one. It now picks them up and the dash says they are playing but there is no sound. I have the CD player apart so I can see it is working. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with a wiring issue. The volume problem raises my suspicions.
